Mechanical Assembler

Mechanical Assembler needed for leading engineering and manufacturing company in Sterling Heights, MI!

Pay Rate: $22/hour. Schedule is 1st Shift: MondayThursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM. This is a Contract to Hire, 90-120 Days.

A leading engineering and manufacturing company in Sterling Heights is seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join its growing team. This organization designs and builds high-performance systems for specialized vehicle applications and offers a hands-on, fast-paced environment for skilled tradespeople looking to grow their careers.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assemble mechanical parts, subassemblies, and complete systems following technical drawings, schematics, and applicable industry standards.
• Conduct visual and functional inspections to ensure products meet strict quality criteria.
• Utilize hand and power tools for precise fabrication and assembly tasks.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and resolve assembly-related issues when needed.
• Work closely with engineering, quality control, and other departments to meet production targets.
• Accurately document work performed, inspection results, and any required rework.
• Adhere to all company safety protocols and maintain a clean, hazard-free workspace.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification or vocational training preferred).
• At least 2 years of mechanical assembly experience, ideally in a highly regulated manufacturing environment such as defense, transportation, or aerospace.
• Understanding of technical standards such as IPC-A-610 and general familiarity with MIL-STD requirements.
• Ability to interpret blueprints and detailed mechanical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and a commitment to quality.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team-driven setting and follow precise processes.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards related to wire harness assembly.
• Prior experience supporting military or government projects is a plus.
