What You’ll Do:

Inspire Home Loans, (a Century Communities, Inc. company) is seeking an experienced Chief Compliance Officer to join the team. The Chief Compliance Officer is responsible for Inspire Home Loans Compliance Management System, including but not limited to internal compliance reviews, policy and procedure drafting and updates, consumer complaint management, regulatory changes, BSA/anti-money laundering, compliance training, support, and managing the team.

The position can be filled in Newport Beach, California, or Charlotte, North Carolina. Qualified candidates MUST reside within commuting distance of the listed locations to be considered.

Your Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Responsible for overall management of Compliance resources and Inspire's Compliance Management System, including monitoring and implementing regulatory and investor changes.
  • Coordinate responses to consumer complaints to ensure timely and accurate responses with due consideration given to any relevant consumer protection regulations.
  • Assess emerging regulatory compliance issues or potential liabilities.
  • Maintain a library of applicable Federal and State laws and regulations.
  • Maintain a competent level of expertise and knowledge of requirements of the various laws, regulations, ruling governing the mortgage company’s activities.
  • Develop and maintain updates for compliance policies and procedures ensuring that changes in laws and regulations that may affect those policies and procedures are incorporated on a timely basis.
  • Support the mortgage company’s business areas by providing guidance and assistance in all aspects of the company’s regulatory compliance program.
  • Develop processes for development and implementation of new consumer financial products or services, distribution channels or strategies to determine degree of compliance function participation and determine whether the processes consider fair lending compliance risk.
  • Conduct regular compliance reviews within the company, as well as review of compliance policies and procedures, including but not limited to the following:
    • Review for outdated content or other indicators that policies are overly general or not tailored to the needs and actual practices of the company.
    • Review for products with features that may inhibit consumer understanding or otherwise pose heightened risks of (a) unfair, deceptive, or abusive practices, or(b) fair lending concerns.
    • Review for products containing features that may pose heightened risk of unlawful discrimination. Such features may include:
      • Discretion over product selection, underwriting, or pricing; or
      • Distinctions related to geography or prohibited bases (such as age or marital status)
  • Prepare and present periodic compliance status reports and audit findings to the Executive Management team.
  • Ensure that responses and corrective action related to exceptions disclosed through Compliance Monitoring, Audit Reviews and Regulatory Examination Report findings are timely and effectively implemented.
  • Administer a compliance training program and provide training in Consumer Protection Laws and Regulations to the mortgage company’s management and employees on a continuing basis.
  • Act as management liaison with regulatory examining authorities on compliance-related matters and coordinating examination activities.
  • Ensure that compliance related reports to Federal and State regulatory agencies are complete and filed timely.
  • Establish and oversee an appropriate monitoring program.
  • Report at least annually to the Executive Management team on the effectiveness of the company’s Compliance Management System (CMS)
  • Manage a disclosure desk.

What You Have:

  • An understanding of the entire loan cycle.
  • Familiarity with Loan Origination Systems, Encompass a plus.
  • Exceptional communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT).
  • Self-starter and acute problem solver.

    Your Education and Experience:
  • Expert in mortgage compliance, including all federal regulations and multiple state regulations and licensing.
  • A college degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A minimum of 10+ years of experience in mortgage compliance, some portion of which may be in originations, underwriting, or servicing.
  • Must have a minimum of 5-7 years of management experience.
  • Expertise presenting findings and/or results to senior leadership.
  • Expertise handling external audits and examinations.
  • Compliance testing and risk analysis.
  • Experience developing and maintaining policies and procedures.
  • Privacy and data security expertise a plus.
  • Knowledge of title, escrow and insurance regulations a plus.

Compensation:

Inspire Home Loans intends to offer the selected candidate an annual base salary in the range of $140,000 - $170.000 with potential for other financial incentives. Actual offers will be based on a variety of factors, including experience. Employees will have access to paid time off, medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance and the Company’s 401k plan.
