Job Description

The Aviation Maintenance Technician is responsible for the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of assigned aircraft. The Aviation Maintenance Technician performs all maintenance, inspections, and documentation in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements. Essential Job Functions include ensuring compliance with all FAA, manufacturer and company maintenance requirements; communicating with the Director of Maintenance on all matters and for work schedules and on call times; performing daily/preflight inspection of aircraft in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines; performing and documenting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and inspections in accordance with manufacturers and FAA requirements and procedures; maintaining all manufacturer and company manuals in current condition; assisting with the development of Life Flight goals and objectives consistent with the institutional missions and goals; implementing action plans for those goals in conjunction with administration and Life Flight Director; ensuring quality of maintenance operations by maintaining strategies to insure maintenance competence; reviewing quality assurance of maintenance operations; responsible for all other flight operations duties as assigned; assisting with investigation of complaints for facts and resolution; developing and maintaining good working relationships with Mercy Transportation Management Team, fellow employees and others in conduct of daily business; ensuring company and employee compliance with FAA, hospital, CAMTS policies, procedures and standards. Licensing/Certification required is a current mechanic certificate with airframe and power plant ratings. Education required is High School/GED. Work experience required is 5 years’ experience with airframe and power plant license, previous rotary wing experience preferred. Training required is factory schooling on type model that is being maintained within one year of becoming Sr. Technician. Working conditions include periods of high stress and fluctuating workloads, long-distance or air travel as needed (not to exceed 10%), general office environment, exposure to high noise levels, bright lights, limited hazardous substances or body fluids, adverse weather conditions, and hazardous equipment and chemicals. Physical requirements include lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, kneeling, crawling, climbing, balance, bending, sitting, walking, standing, and other physical demands. Skills required include having own tools, maintaining component log cards, scheduling of maintenance, shipping and receiving, inventory management, vendor procurement, calibrated tools and documentation, quality assurance, financial and budget planning, analyzing data, relationship building, good listening, integrity, good decision making, teamwork, punctuality, initiative, customer service and relations, professionalism, and compassion.
