Are you a dedicated and compassionate Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) looking for a rewarding remote opportunity? We are seeking a qualified professional to provide virtual instruction and support to students with visual impairments. This role allows you to make a meaningful impact from the comfort of your own home, helping students develop essential academic and functional skills through specialized online instruction.
Position Overview
You will work closely with students, families, and educational staff to create and implement individualized learning strategies tailored to meet each student's unique needs. Your expertise in assistive technology, adaptive materials, and specialized instruction will empower students to achieve their full potential in an online learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct and consultative virtual services to students with visual impairments.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to address students' specific needs and goals.
Collaborate with classroom teachers, specialists, and families through virtual meetings to support student development.
Deliver instruction on the use of assistive technology, braille, and adaptive materials to enhance learning in a remote setting.
Conduct virtual assessments to monitor student progress and adjust instructional methods as needed.
Stay updated on best practices and emerging trends in teaching students with visual impairments.
Current Caseload
Two students currently receiving VI services:
One student receives 30 minutes per week.
One student receives 15 minutes per week.
One additional student will undergo a functional vision assessment as part of their next evaluation. If eligible, VI services will be added to their IEP.
Qualifications
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education with a focus on Visual Impairments or a related field.
Valid Missouri teaching certification for Teaching Visually Impaired (TVI) students.
Proficiency in braille, low vision aids, and assistive technology for visually impaired students in a remote learning setting.
Experience developing and implementing IEPs for students with visual impairments.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively support students, families, and school staff in a virtual environment.
