We are seeking a skilled and experienced Golf Course Superintendent to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of Sonoma Ranch Golf Course. The Golf Course Superintendent will be responsible for the maintenance, management, and improvement of the golf course grounds, ensuring a high standard of playability, aesthetics, and safety. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of turf management, irrigation systems, and a passion for creating an exceptional golfing experience.
Core Responsibilities: - Turf Management: Oversee the maintenance of fairways, greens, tees, roughs, and other areas to ensure optimal playing conditions. Develop and implement turf care programs, including fertilization, aeration, seeding, and pest control.
- Staff Supervision: Lead, train, and supervise a team of groundskeepers and maintenance staff. Delegate tasks, set priorities, and ensure work is completed on time and to a high standard.
- Budget and Inventory Management: Develop and manage the golf course maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources. Maintain inventory of equipment, tools, and supplies, and order materials as needed.
- Environmental Sustainability: Ensure adherence to environmental best practices, including the responsible use of pesticides and fertilizers, waste management, and maintaining natural habitats around the course.
- Customer Service: Address any concerns from golfers regarding course conditions and work proactively to resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in golf course management or turf management.
- Proven experience in managing and operating irrigation systems, pesticide/fertilizer applications, and turf health.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a diverse team.
- Solid understanding of golf course design, maintenance practices, and environmental considerations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and some holidays as required.
- Certified Golf Course Superintendent (CGCS) designation (preferred but not required).
- Proficiency in using maintenance management software and basic office programs (Excel, Word).
Working Conditions: - Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing equipment and materials.
- Long hours during peak seasons, including weekends and holidays.
