Job Title: Functional Safety Engineer

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Salary: $110,000 - $130,000 per annum.

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a Functional Safety Specialist to play a critical role in ensuring the safety and compliance of our client's autonomous solutions. This position involves conducting risk assessments, defining safety requirements, and auditing products against international standards to ensure they meet the highest safety benchmarks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Risk Assessment & Compliance: Lead risk assessment workshops for new and updated Flanders products, ensuring adherence to management-of-change protocols.
  • Safety Requirements: Define and document functional safety requirements for autonomous solutions, integrating them into validation checklists.
  • Control Implementation: Identify and implement necessary safety controls to minimize risk and maintain compliance with industry standards.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct scheduled audits of automation products to ensure compliance with international safety regulations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Recommend and drive improvements to the company’s safety management system, including change management processes.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead the investigation of safety-related incidents, ensuring lessons learned are integrated into functional safety validation.
  • Corrective Actions: Oversee the execution of safety bulletins and validate that corrective measures from risk assessments and incident investigations have been effectively implemented.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Strong background in functional safety, risk assessments, and compliance within automation or autonomous solutions.
  • Experience conducting and facilitating risk assessments in a technical environment.
  • Knowledge of international safety standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven ability to audit safety-critical products and drive improvements in safety management systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams and clients.
