Position Overview: ESL Teacher

As an English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher , you will play a crucial role in guiding K-12 ESL students across several Camden Prep campuses. Collaborating closely with school-based Special Education Coordinators and fellow educators, you will help shape the educational journey of our students. This position requires travel between our Camden campuses and reports directly to the Associate Director of Special Education.

  • Guideline Adherence: Follow ESSA guidelines for identification, instruction, assessment, and exiting ESL students.
  • Positive Environment: Create a structured learning atmosphere that reflects the school’s core values and high expectations.
  • Curriculum Implementation: Develop activities that align with WIDA English language development standards.
  • Assessment Training: Complete training for administering WIDA assessments.
  • Behavior Management: Provide consistent rewards and consequences to uphold school values.
  • Accountability: Ensure students master academic and language acquisition standards.
  • Resilience: Turn challenges into opportunities for growth.
  • Effective Communication: Engage with students, families, and colleagues effectively.
  • Family Engagement: Involve families in their children’s education.

  • A proven track record of high achievement in the classroom.
  • Mastery and enthusiasm for academic subjects.
  • Self-motivated and a team player.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years teaching experience in an urban public or charter school setting preferred.
  • Valid NJ English as a Second Language State Certification required.

Compensation

Compensation for this role ranges from $56,000 to $80,000 , determined by factors such as relevant teaching experience, educational certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools.
