Job Description
Akkodis is seeking an Electrical Engineer for a Contract job with a client in Syracuse, NY (Hybrid) . You will be responsible for designing electrical power systems, focusing on substation and auxiliary systems for AIS and GIS substations.
Rate Range: $50/hour to $65/hour; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.
Electrical Engineer job responsibilities include:
Designing electrical power systems, including substation and auxiliary systems for AIS and GIS substations.
Routing and designing conduit/duct banks, including layout and fill calculations per NEC standards.
Designing substation ground grids and low-voltage power distribution systems.
Creating AC/DC panel schedules, load balancing, cable ampacity verification, and equipment specifications.
Developing outdoor floodlight (illumination) designs in compliance with NESC.
Collaborating with the project lead engineer to develop design criteria and document deliverables.
Creating single line diagrams, layout section drawings, and BOMs for substation design packages.
Performing studies and analysis to ensure system efficiency and safety.
Desired Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power systems and substation design.
Strong knowledge of conduit/duct bank routing, low voltage power distribution, and substation ground grid design.
Experience in designing AC/DC panel schedules, load balancing, and outdoor flood-light systems.
