Job Description

Summerfield Waldorf School and Farm is seeking an Early Childhood Aftercare Assistant. The assistant supports the lead teacher in caring for the children in our afternoon program which includes a nap, outside play and a casual afternoon snack. The teacher must be able to help hold the form of the afternoon with warmth and care. Hours are 12:15 pm until 4:00 pm; number of days per week negotiable. This is an hourly position paying $26.64/hour.

Qualifications:

• Early childhood education teaching experience;
• Ideally 12 semester units, or equivalent quarter units, of early childhood education or child development core classes from an accredited college, university or occupational program, earned or in process;
• Lifeways or Waldorf experience/training are also ideal.

Physical Requirements for Employees at SWSF:

Summerfield is both a school and farm. Though we do have paved pathways between various buildings, many pathways are unpaved and rough. Some have steep inclines and declines, steps and holes.

Employees must have the ability to:

• Navigate various-density and uneven surfaces for extended periods of time and significant lengths;
• Stand and/or sit for extended periods of time;
• Use a computer for extended periods of time;
• Squat, stoop and/or bend over;
• Reach overhead, grasp, push/pull up to 35 pounds for short distances;
• Lift and carry up to 45 lbs. at waist height for short distances.
