Description Education and Experience: All applicants must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) in the State of Tennessee and current CPR certification. Preferred five years' consecutive experience, but not required. Job Overview: Summary: The Maury County Health Department has an opening for a Registered Dental Assistant (work site assignment are the twelve counties within the South-central region but is based in Maury County). Will aid the Registered Dental Hygienists (RDH) in the school-based preventative program with preventive therapy given to students Kindergarten-8th graders in schools that qualify for this program. Disinfects the designated operatory area, collects students, and gives oral health education instructions to students. Will organize supplies and instruments prior to the seating of the patient and therapy being rendered as the RDH as instructs. Garners permission forms, health records prior to seating any patient, and verifies the student for the RHD's review. Records data and is responsible for returning records daily to the designated area. Supports the objective the RDH identifies during therapy. Assists with monitoring supplies and equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidance and State of Tennessee Standard of Procedure Manual. Monitors inventory to ensure availability of materials and supplies and submits purchase request to lead RDA for the RDH review and approval. May be asked by the regional oral health director to assist in other oral programs and or oral health clinics as needed. Will provide other services within the scope of their license as directed by the regional oral health director. Requirements Other Requirements: A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
