Business Unit Controller, AscellaHealth

What we are looking for
AscellaHealth seeks a Controller to manage the daily financial activities, including financial accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, billing, treasury, and financial analysis of a subsidiary. They will manage a team and play a direct, individual-contributor role in the financial life of the organization. This position requires regular weekly attendance at our Berwyn, PA office.

What the position will be doing

• Maintaining General Ledger (GL) per the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Performing the month and year-end close activities and related reporting
• Managing the monthly GL account reconciliation process
• Managing accounts payable (AP)
• Managing customer billing and related accounts receivable (AR) activity
• Preparing the annual budget and periodic forecasts. Comparing actual results to budget/forecast as part of the monthly reporting process
• Performing ongoing financial and profitability analysis
• Serving as the key contact for external audit and tax consultants
• Meeting with new clients to ensure proper financial reporting is set correctly for accurate month-end reports
• Overseeing and supporting an accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity
• Performing other related duties as assigned or necessary; remaining flexible and adaptable in work schedules and assignments as defined by departmental and organizational needs

Necessary Skills, Education & Abilities

• A bachelor’s degree, or 4-year equivalent, with a major in business, accounting, or finance is required
• Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting or finance
• Possess significant knowledge of accounting, finance, and financial control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Previous experience in Pharmacy or the Pharmaceutical industry a plus
• Professional certification, such as a CPA (certified public accountant) or a CA (chartered accountant), is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience leading and managing an accounting function and a team of finance professionals.
• Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities
• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to provide solutions to complex problems
• A detail-oriented approach with an ability to switch between job responsibilities quickly and seamlessly
• Ability to be highly transparent, ethical, and driven
• Relentless attention to detail and the ability to be a creative self-starter and team player
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to communicate with all internal organizational levels, partners, vendors, and clients.
• Ability to think and act independently, formulate and support new ideas, and champion new initiatives within and beyond the scope of one's own responsibilities
• Proficient in financial management systems (Dynamics), accounting software, and Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and especially Excel.
