JOB TITLE : Associate Product Designer 

SUPERVISOR : VP of Creative

JOB TYPE : Full-Time, Hybrid

DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a highly organized, creative, and experienced Associate Designer to join our Product Design team. As an Associate Designer, you will work under the direction of the Product Designer and VP of Creative to support the creation of products that align with Shoppe Amber Interiors aesthetic across multiple product categories. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), coupled with a comprehensive understanding of furniture construction techniques and materials to assist with design concepts from conception to prototype and support cross-functional teams for presentation and research purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on seasonal designs and translate direction into technical drawings and technical spec sheets preparing design documents 
  • Support work of design and creative directors by ensuring documents are updated and current, including data entry in the PLM system. 
  • CAD Design: Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to develop detailed and accurate 2D and 3D designs of home furniture and accessories.
  • Research and evaluate various materials suitable for furniture construction, and product design across multiple product categories considering factors such as durability, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and consumer preferences related to home furniture and accessories to inform design decisions and product enhancements.
  • Maintain design iterations, specifications, and project timelines to product calendars to facilitate communication and project tracking.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, product development, merchandising, and manufacturing to facilitate seamless product development and production processes.
  • Participate and support the product flow of developments as they move from sampling through to photography and completion. 
  • Organize and maintain product design inventory library, implement an archiving system, and manage inventory systemically and physically before, during, and after all development phases. 
  • Understand Shoppe’s design identity and aesthetics, maintaining a consistent style and visual language across all product images while also staying up to date with new trends and how competitors showcase their products seasonally
  • Additional projects, as needed

Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively across cross-functional teams
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and quickly adapt to change
  • Ability to work independently and juggle multiple projects at a time
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities while remaining calm under pressure
  • Demonstrates a high level of creativity, attention to detail and organization
  • Strong team player with a positive demeanor, strong communication skills, comfortable working with multiple functional areas
  • Strong technical knowledge of materials and construction is a bonus!

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in product design, preferably in the home furniture or interior design industry. 
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and other design tools. Experience with a PLM system
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to detail and a passion for creating innovative and visually appealing designs.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat
