About the Role

The Assistant Digital Archivist will play a key role at Othram by assisting in converting analog and physical media into structured, accessible digital assets.

What You Get to Do Every Day

  • Operate and maintain scanning hardware, audio/video digitization equipment, and related software to digitize various media formats.
  • Conduct inventory photography and damage assessments for archival materials.
  • Carefully disassemble and reassemble binders and other bound documents of evidence for digitization.
  • Perform quality control on digitized documents, including fixing labels and ensuring accurate metadata tagging.
  • Review, index, and scan case files to create structured digital records.

What You Bring to the Role

Required Competencies and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Museum Studies, or related field. Relevant experience in document management, library, or archival roles may substitute for education.
  • Work or volunteer experience in public, academic, school, or business libraries.
  • Experience in a records-based setting within a business, library, museum, or archival environment.
  • Administrative experience managing a high volume of documents, ensuring organization and accuracy.
  • Experience with digital asset management and handling structured data.
  • Knowledge of digital transformation processes, particularly in transitioning physical records to a digital format.
  • Strong attention to detail and professionalism, particularly when handling highly classified information and sensitive case files.

Preferred Competencies and Experience:

  • Master of Library Science (MLS) degree or equivalent advanced archival/library training.
  • Professional experience working in a library, with a focus on records management, digital archiving, or historical preservation.
  • Experience in a law firm setting, particularly in handling legal records, case files, or confidential documents.
  • Proficiency in Photoshop for document restoration, image correction, and archival enhancement.
  • Experience with video editing software to process and digitize VHS tapes, DVDs, and other multimedia evidence.
  • Familiarity with Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) for enhancing and preserving audio evidence from cassettes, microcassettes, and other analog sources
