Job Description

Assistant Buyer

Key Responsibilities

  • Receives and logs green coffee sample information
  • Maintains samples and inventory organization
  • Assists in quality assurance
  • Ensures proper processing of green coffee samples, including sample roasting
  • Maintains a clean and organized lab and brand showcase
  • Facilitates the setup and cleaning of the daily cuppings and lab activities
  • Maintains proper use of inventory and quality data collection with Cropster Database
  • Assists with the preparation of samples and sends sample reports to partners
  • Coordinates with the Senior Green Coffee Buyer to complete daily quality operations
  • Supports Sales and Customer Experience teams with occasional cuppings, demos, and on-site customer visits
  • Performs general housekeeping of the lab
  • Occasional domestic and international travel
  • Adheres to Verve standards for green coffee sample approval

Qualifications

  • Must love coffee, leadership, and collaboration
  • Highly-developed coffee tasting palate
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft, Excel, and Google suites
  • Superior organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Ability to give and receive constructive feedback in any given situation

  • Pro-active problem solver and innovative business strategist
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs unassisted and to stand for long periods of time
