Job Summary

Midland Asphalt Materials Inc., a subsidiary of Barrett Industries Corporation, provides advanced pavement preservation solutions for our customers’ needs.  We are actively recruiting for Asphalt Distributor Operators for our Pennsylvania Operations for next operating season. This position is expected to start April/May 2025.

Main Responsibilities

  • Operate an asphalt distributor and apply specialized emulsions to roads
  • Coordinate with Foreman for application rate and special instructions
  • Understand the different emulsions and how to use each one safely and effectively
  • Keep track of time and quantities of each project and communicate that to dispatch office
  • Perform related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, adding or removing extensions, and changing spray nozzles

Qualifications and Physical Requirements

  • Must have a valid Class B CDL with Airbrakes and Tanker Endorsements and good driving record
  • Class A CDL, Hazmat Endorsement preferred
  • Wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to climb in and out of vehicles and/or equipment
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Regularly required to stand and walk across uneven terrain
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise
  • Regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles; exposure to high temperatures
  • Regularly exposed to fuel, oil, and other chemicals
  • Required to work varying hours, including nights/weekends, and overnight travel with overnight stays
